What is CrossFire Youth?

CrossFire Youth is a youth group of young people associated with Tabernacle Baptist Church and/or Tabernacle Baptist Academy.

What is the purpose of CrossFire Youth?

  • To provide a place for young people to grow in grace by being grounded in Truth.
  • To allow teens to build lasting and purposeful friendships with their peers and youth leaders by encouraging edifying relationships with other Christians.
  • To provide avenues for service, fun, and fellowship.
  • To prepare teens for the next steps and stages of life with a Biblical foundation.
  • To empower and embolden life-changing relationships with those who don’t know Christ.

What beliefs do CrossFire Youth hold?

  • To Glorify God — CrossFire Youth is focused on one purpose, to glorify God. Our youth ministry is fixed upon the glorification of God. We believe our lives are to be for the glory of God, just as God always acts for the sake of His own name (Ps. 23:3, 25:11, 31:3, Josh. 7:9, Ezek. 20:44).

  • Grounded in Truth — CrossFire Youth is centered directly upon the Word of God. We seek to understand, implement, and allow it to transform every part of our lives. We believe that the Word of God is infinitely relevant for all people and all generations (1 Peter 1:25). We believe that the Word of God will accomplish the mission that it was purposed for (Isa. 55:11) by allowing mankind to get to know God through His Word (1 Sam. 3:21). God’s Word is paramount, therefore we seek to teach it above all with everything else secondary.

  • Empowered by the Holy Spirit — We believe that we cannot succeed without the power of the Spirit of God. As believers in Jesus, we recognize that we are indwelt with the same Holy Spirit who empowered the first church in the book of Acts, who empowered Old Testament saints (Num. 27:18, Ezekiel 2:2, Gen. 2:7), and who continues the work of Christ through the continual teaching and revelation of Jesus (John 16:13). We believe it is the power of the Spirit that transforms the lives of sinners to save them through the Gospel of Christ (2 Cor. 4:6). We as CrossFire Youth rely on the Spirit’s power today to work for the purpose of advancing God’s kingdom on earth.

  • Gospel-Driven — CrossFire Youth seeks to promote one thing above all others, Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor. 2:2). We believe in the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16-17). Our primary purpose is to promote God’s kingdom by the proclamation of the Gospel. We desire our youth ministry to teach the Gospel, which saves us and continues to sanctify us until we are glorified.

  • Focused on the Family — While we as youth leaders recognize our aim to disciple our youth, we understand our role biblically as secondary to the role of parents within the training process of our youth. We will do our best to teach, mentor, and advise those God has entrusted to us, but we will not seek to replace parents and their responsibility (Prov. 22:6). We support the parents by seeking to encourage, pray for, and inform them to promote the family as God intended. For those who do not have parents or whose parents do not know the Lord, we strive by God’s grace to be spiritual leaders, still recognizing the responsibility of the parent.

  • Determined Discipleship — We believe that part of Great Commission work (Matt. 28) is the process of discipleship. Our mission is to walk alongside our youth and live life together for the purpose of pleasing God and becoming more like Jesus. By God’s grace, we seek to align our leaders alongside each young person to teach, pray for, encourage, correct, mature, and train them for the purposes of Gospel living.

  • Motivated by God’s Mission — We understand our ministry and time with these young people is limited and temporal, but believe God’s mission is eternal. We seek to cultivate a mindset within our teens to be prepared for the next life-step God brings their way. God calls each of us to fulfill His mission for our lives. We believe in actively implanting this desire within our youth, and we commit to help them as they discover God’s will for their lives.
